Workshop #2: Evaluating Digitization and Digitization Equipment
Michael Stelmach
The Federal Agencies Digitization Guidelines Initiative (FADGI) has developed the Technical Guidelines for Digitizing Cultural Heritage Materials representing shared best practices followed by agencies for digitizing cultural heritage materials. This group is involved in a cooperative effort to develop common digitization guidelines for still image materials (such as textual content, maps, and photographic prints and negatives) found in cultural heritage institutions. Mr. Stelmach discussed these guidelines and how they can be used to evaluate the results of digitization and digitization equipment. He will also discussed the ongoing work of this initiative and gave of a glimpse of future guidelines that are expected to be developed. This presentation is of interest to digitization project managers, quality control and assurance staff and those involved in procurement and equipment selection activities.
